The Good Karma Gardening Cirle at Highlander; Fall 2008
The Good Karma Gardening Circle at Highlander; Fall 2008

Please join us at Highlander on Saturday, March 28th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to enjoy the spring weather and the beautiful view of the mountains, and to help prepare our gardens for the summer.

Activities will include: weeding, pruning, planting, clearing plant debris, digging, and mulching. Please bring gloves and gardening tools if you have them.

There will also be good conversation, a delicious lunch, and a tour of Highlander’s apple orchard.

Donations of low-maintenance native plants would also be appreciated. Highlander is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, so all contributions are deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

We will have lunch at the Workshop Center with participants in an interpreter training workhop, which is designed to provide interpreters with skills and information to help build cross-cultural alliances and work in social justice settings.

Please feel free to come any time on the 28th, for a short or long period! It would help, though, if you could let us know if and when you might be coming.

If you will be joining us for lunch, please be sure to RSVP so we know how many people to expect. For more information, or to RSVP, contact Charlie Biggs at or 865-933-3443 x242, or Rosalind Hackett at or 865-588-1562.

Directions to Highlander are available online at If you haven’t been to Highlander before, please be sure to print out the directions. It can be difficult to find us without them.

If you arrive at Highlander in the morning, drive up the hill to the office, the first building on the right. If you arrive between noon and 1:00, drive up the hill past the office to the Workshop Center, park in the parking lot, and come into the dining room. If you arrive after 1:00, drive past the office and the Workshop Center, continue through the parking lot, and bear right at the fork to the Horton House at the very top of the hill.
If you need directions or other assistance on the 28th, call Charlie’s cell-phone: 865-310-2356.

We look forward to seeing you on the 28th!
