The Seeds of Fire Camp for 2019 will be a week-long camp for Southern and Appalachian youth-led and youth centered groups organizing for social change and justice to gather. Camp will centered within 3 major concentrations, and will provide each participant group with a mini-grant for projects developed during Camp.

Components
3 Concentrations
Camp will focus on 3 major concentrations of organizing: Action and Campaigning, Alternative Services (building leisure time for political consciousness) and Popular and Political Education. Within the 2 weeks at Camp, participants will dig deeper into each of these concentrations, building knowledge of what they are, how to expand and grow in each, how previous and current social movements exist within each and provide practical tools and techniques.
Projects & Mini-grants
Each Camp participant group will be expected to develop a group project within while at Camp, focused within at least 1 organizing concentration (mentioned above). For these projects, SOF will provide a mini-grant of $2,000 to allow each project to develop and meet completion. Participant groups will have the support of at least 1 Advisory Committee member along with staff to brainstorm, troubleshoot and accomplish their project.
Homecoming Follow-ups
Each participant group is expected to sendat least 1 member to Highlander’s Homecoming in September to provide an update on the progress of their SOF projects and their ongoing work.
