Greetings,
I would like to invite you to a fundraising house party for the Highlander Research & Education Center on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 5-8:00pm. There are many reasons I am asking you to support Highlander Research & Education Center, its 78-year existence and service to social justice notwithstanding. It is very important to me that I, and other conscience people, am supportive of groups that are at the forefront of tackling issues, policies, and trends that negatively affect us as individuals or a part of a group. This organization has, and is presently, confronting challenges while finding solutions that opposing sides can agree upon in order to make a more workable solution benefiting all involved. I look at them like an alarm clock ringing its bell to alert us that it is time to wake up and pay attention to the issues. I am certainly aware that current times are not easy; however, there is a part we all can play in ensuring social justice continues to be one in which we all can live comfortably with. This is why I am asking that you donate between $50 and $100.00 to the Highlander Center. Your best effort is greatly appreciated, and your contribution is tax-deductible.
Please come and meet Highlander staff including cultural worker and performance art-maker Marquez Rhyne, hear about Highlander history and current work, and bid on visual art from some outstanding artists from across the region. I look forward to your attendance.
Thank you,
Sammie Nicely
